Design and development the Pinyin input method in the feature phone is the main object of this paper. Functional diversification, input way to simplify and intelligent output, these will be the features of a Chinese input method which the users wish to use extremely. After market research and analysis, the Pinyin input method is the people already accustomed input method, and the digital S9keyboard is recognized as the efficient input way of Chinese characters keyboard.The mobile phone smart pinyin input method engine is developed completely in this paper. The following work was completed by the author (independent participation): carried out a detailed analysis of user needs, studied the functions of pinyin input method and requirements of the memory size and character range of the software. According to the above functions, the input method framework is designed, as follow: designing data storage format, designing search engine, designing functional layer interfaces, designing call mode of interface platform. Finally, according to the design, the all functions of pinyin input method were implemented as follows:word input, easy pinyin input, pinyin filter, pinyin fast select, user words memory and delete automatically, dynamic FM, word association, commonly used words filled the associative words, etc.The Pinyin input method successfully passed functional testing and stress testing. This product not only takes up less memory, but also has a basic platform-independent. It could be transplanted to lots of mobile phone platform. The features of efficiency and simple input operation, terms of dynamic FM, automatically save and delete user words, prediction of word make the project stand out in the mobile phone input method products. It deeply understands the user needs, and meets the user’s expectations and requirements on the intelligent input methods.
