With the rapid development of mobile communication technology, it appears a variety of mobile communication system network and Communication standards to meet the demand of information for the people. In the situation of the coexistence of a variety of mobile communication standards, the base station antennas used for mobile communication system to send and receive the signal also face a huge challenge. Broadband/multi-band bipolar base station antennas not only can effective save space and materials, but also can achieve compatibility of many mobile communication network. It has vast、practical value and application prospect in future mobile communications, which makes related research become urgent.The paper is organized as the following:First, summarize the development of mobile communication and present situation of wideband base station antennas development in mobile communication system. Design a kind of asymmetric structure of broadband double polarization radiating element. Through numerical simulation and comparing with symmetrical arrays widely used in antenna engineering, we can get when the radiation unit of asymmetry structure varies in the range of standing wave ratio and beam width and other radiation index, Its horizontal deflection beam can been improved dramatically, Thereby greatly improving the tracking error and coverage effects of the antenna system.Second, place the asymmetric structure of broadband dual-polarized radiating element studied above in a uniform linear array antenna. Combine with the uniform linear array theory and analyst the characteristics of array antenna composed by radiating elements numerically. The results show that this design can well meet requirements, while the indicators of horizontal beam tilt plane of the array antenna can also be effective improved. Third, design a ’side by side’ MIMO base station antenna. Based on the basic principle of the planar array antennas, analyst the effect of mutual coupling to antenna gain and pattern; finally, adjust structural parameters of the planar array, combined with a software simulation, to get the structure which meets the design requirements.Four, Combine with these simulation results above, transform the two base station antennas designed above to real object. And solve the problems encountered from the process form the simulation model to the physical transformation. Through a series of work of testing, commissioning, testing again, then carry out a detailed analysis of the test results, and compared with the simulation result, It can be seen the measured results and simulation results are basically the same.The innovation of this paper:First, design an asymmetric wideband dual-polarized radiating element, which can effectively improve the indicators of the horizontal beam deflection.Second, Use the radiating elements with asymmetric structure to compose a uniform linear array antenna, which can effectively improve the tracking error and coverage effects of the antenna system.Third, Design a miniaturized wideband MIMO antenna, which can meet the design requirements.Four, physically transform the antenna design acquire the results of the test data, accumulate certain experience in this process and laid the foundation for future research work.
