With the development of economy and the improvement of people’s living standard, smarthome is more and more popular in our daily life. Smart home is one of the important applicationsof IoT(Internet of Things) technologies. The 12th five years planning of our country has alsoclearly content the IoT as a strategic new industry to foster, IoT will boom the research of smarthome. In foreign countries, the research of smart home started more early, a lot of smart homestandards have been widely used such as X-10, CEBus, HBS, EIB and so on, whereas the EIBstandard is most especially noticeable. This paper chooses EIB as the research object. At present,domestic research on EIB system focus on the system installation and integration, Few studiesare working at equipment research and development. So the foreign corporations master the coretechnology. This paper starts with the EIB standard. On the basis of accumulated developmentexperience of EIB products, this paper analyze the EIB protocol in depth and has developed theindependent EIB protocol stack, reducing the cost of product development, the experiment hasshown the correctness and practicability of the protocol stack.Our work is organized as follows:1.The brief analysis of the development of smart home as well as the present situation ofdomestic and foreign research are given and the EIB protocol is chosen as research object.2.EIB protocol follows ISO structure model, after the description of the topology of thenetwork and bus equipment. The services and function of each layer are analyzed.3.According to the need of the realization of the EIB protocol stack, the EIB protocol stackdevelopment hardware platform which using LM3S6911 microprocessor as it’s primarilycontroller, and TP-UART as bus transceiver is realized. Also the position and function ofTP-UART is analyzed.4.On the basis of deep analysis of each layer’s function, the EIB protocol stack is realized.And some detailed design methods are given which includes service realizing, interface design,parameter definition, etc.5.EIB network with IP as it’s backbone is called KNXnet/IP protocol. KNXnet/IP protocolgreatly expanded the application of EIB protocol, making remote monitoring, high speed datatransmission possible, but its security is deficient and it is very vulnerable to be attacked. Thepaper gives KNXnet/IP security improvement strategies such as the key distribution andencryption communication method, and the experiment has proved its feasibility andpracticability.6.The design and implementation of EIB gateway is given. The gateway is developed on theplatform of our EIB protocol stack. EIB gateway connects 485 bus and EIB bus, making a serialport equipment access EIB network quickly.7.Another air conditioner control system which also designed on the platform of our EIBprotocol stack is given. Every air conditioner is embedded with an EIB bus controller and Atouch screen device which access EIB bus is used to monitor all the state of the air conditioners,The actual application has proved the practicality of the system.
