Design And Implementation Of Monitoring Alarm System In Computer Room

In recent years, with the rapid development of the computer and network technology, monitoring alarm and management system is playing a more and more important role in enterprise’s information construction, especially in campus information center computer rooms. It helps to achieve the centralized monitoring and management of temperature, humidity, power supply, infrared, security, water leakage, UPS, network operation etc., also can take custom action to deal with the exceptions occurred. Meanwhile, backup the correlative data collected by the monitoring system and then automatically analyze and diagnose, to achieve real-time monitoring, real-time logging, and real-time alarm mechanism, to provide data support and decision to the efficient operation of communication equipment and network.The main purpose of this article is to describe how to use self-developed monitoring alarm system to implement centralized monitoring and management of computer room, to make equipment run in a reliable and stable environment, reduce maintenance workload, decrease equipment failure rate, keep campus network efficient and available. To be specific, the monitoring objects include:computer room environment, network traffic and network service. Here, My main works have been finished, as following:1. Design of monitoring of network traffic distribution.including statistic of network traffic distribution, acquiring of equipment information, packet loss, and record of data traffic distribution etc.2. Design of monitoring of network service in real-time.using the opration of ping to confirm status of school’s server and whether network service is running well or not.3. Design of database.including how to store data in INI text database and read it.4. Testing and implementing all monitor sensors in complex environment, such as sensors for power loss and water leakage.Every link of this system has passed a long time on-site testing and won recognition in a real environment. In addition to make sure the air-conditioner, UPS and network equipment run smoothly, it will trigger the alarm and send SMS to notify administrator immediately once any abnormal. As a result, it raises the level of management. And basing on the analyzing the monitoring data, we can regulate the network traffic to make the network run more smoothly. In brief, the target is to nip the hidden risk in the bud. Essentially, with the help of this monitoring alarm system, the unattended computer rooms with scientific management come true.
