WSN (Wireless sensor network) is one of the hot spot in research. As the deep research and widely application, it became very popular in people’s lives. Due to the limitation of energy, computation, storage and communication ability, the keys are how to use each node’s energy efficiently, achieve load balance and extend its lifetime. The paper focuses on wireless sensor network and researches about its router protocol especially LEACH. A new algorithm called KBECRA is proposed which is based on K-means to solve energy consumption. The KBECRA uses K-means algorithm to group to avoid energy consumption when clusters make group. It overcomes the shortage that clusters concentrate into an area. The energy is balanced by choosing master node which is responsible to collect data as different value of each cluster head. The algorithm is simulated on computer. Compared with the LEACH, the new algorithm has an advantage on balanced energy from the result of simulation. Also, the availability of energy is optimized and the lifetime of network is extended. KBECRA is implemented on TinyOS at last.
