Image processing technology has extensive applications in the biomedical, industrial,military and public security fields. The traditional image processing platform is based onPC, which has characters of bulky, high power consumption and complex development.With the rapid development of microelectronics technology, the image processing platformbecomes intelligent, digital and miniature gradually. The emergence and development ofembedded system and application in image processing platform shorten the seconddevelopment cycle and improve the performance of the image processing paltform.After studying a variety of embedded image processing platform, combining featuresof ARM core board and FPGA development techniques, this thesis designs the embeddedreal-time image processing platform based on ARM and FPGA. This platform uses FPGAto achieve high-resolution image’s real-time transmission and processing, also achieve thehigh-resolution image of large screen display. With ARM hardware platform this thesisuses embedded operating system for image processing platform for the first time. Thismethod greatly simplifies the application development of real-time image processingplatform and provides a new idea for the application development.This thesis researches the hardware circuits which are composed of the main controlmodule based on ARM, the slave module based on FPGA and the real-time imageacquisition module. The main module uses S3C2440A ARM chip to control peripheralinterfaces and the module of the real-time image acquisition. The slave module usesEP1C3T144I7N FPGA chip to control cache for real-time image and the timing of VGAinterface for the real-time image’s output. The module of the real-time image acquisitionuses SAA7113H A/D chip for analog CCD image’s acquisition and decoding. After thesethe thesis researches the custom-made Win CE embedded operating system based on theself-designed hardware platform. Then it researches the interface driver based on Win CE.Finally, according to the demand of industrial applications, the thesis develops application software for the objects’ length measurement also verifies the platform’s features.Platform includes common AV video interface, multiple USB interfaces, RS-232serial interface, VGA interface. It can achieve real-time image’s acquisition and processing.The resolution ratio of real-time image is800×600,60Hz. Due to the modular hardwaredesign and software design based on embedded operating system, this platform hasadvantages of easy expansion, small size, low power consumption, high portability,convenient transplantation and the short second development cycle.
