| WLAN has many distinct features, such as mobility, flexibility and easy deployment. However, for the inherent characters of the wireless channel, The WLAN is threatened by the weakness of802.11protocol:It results serious challenges on security issues. For the sake of the better usage, to design and manage WLAN, it’s very necessary to have a convenient test and monitor tool. This paper designed a WLAN monitoring system according to the demand design. Main contributions of this paper are as follow:1.A monitoring system for WLAN, including handheld tester and fixed monitor and PC monitoring server, was designed based on Embedded Linux Technology and WLAN Technology. Using the monitoring system, running status and hidden trouble of WLAN can be analyzed through bandwidth test, wireless topology analysis, intrusion detection analysis, it also give some reasonable suggestions.2.The software of handled tester was designed based on embedded Linux technology. Through analyzing the principle of802.11data frame, the RF monitor header and data header and management frame was processed to get running status information and running safety information of WLAN. The information was transmitted to the monitoring server for more detailed and professional analysis.3.The hardware of handled tester was designed using ARM9(S3C2440A) processor. This paper briefly introduces the S3C2440A as the microprocessor of hardware module, in which the RF module using RT73USB interface cost-effective wireless card.4.The software of monitoring server was designed in Microsoft.NET platform. The handled tester or fixed tester communicated with the monitoring server using client/server mode, and both sides of communication protocol rules were designed. In the end, the main function of the monitoring system was tested in detail. |
