Mobile Ad hoc network is a wireless transceiver with a mobile terminal device comptising autonomous systerm. The mobile Ad hoc network nodes are mobile, the network topology constantly changing, so research and design a stable and efficient routing protocol has become the Ad hoc network hot area of research. While Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks is a special Mobile Ad hoc Networks. It is one of the MANET applications with most future prospects. And because of the mobile network nodes caused by changes in network topology and other properties. Different routing protocols in a specific environment will show different results, this paper will study the specific routing protocol, through the application of the specific environment to analyze their performance.First, this paper introduces the concept of mobile Ad hoc networks’ characteristics and structure applications and through OPNET and VanetMobiSim simulation tools introduced to build a mobile Ad hoc network simulation platform, as well as specific road simulation environment.Second, description AODV, DSR, OLSR routing protocol and applied three algorithms to the specific simulation environment, through the end delay, throughput, network load, routing time performance of the routing protocol performance analysis.Third, built specific road environment by VanetMobiSim platform, the platform simulated in OPNET simulation environment, and AODV, DSR, GPSR routing protocol applied to the specific environment, through comparative analysis, they come to the road environment to the performance characteristics.Through simulation analysis of MANET routing protocols and the application of specific road environment can be drawn when a small number of nodes and few mobile network nodes close to steady state, the network is also under a lighter load, DSR agreement is better than AODV protocol, however, when nodes constantly moving and growing fast, the direction from time to time, increasing the network load in the case of AODV is better than the DSR protocol. The overhead of OLSR routing in large networks is better than AODV, It is suitable for large-scale network, and density distribution. In overall performance GPSR is better than AODV and DSR.GPSR is more suitable for high speed network node. At the same time, shorten the GPSR protocol transfer path can effectively reduce the redundancy to improve data transmission efficiency.
