It has so many advantages that it is well used in lifting the crude oil with high sand content, high air content or high viscosity. In recent years, the progressive cavity pumps play important roles in the oilfield exploitation.. With the developing of progressing cavity pump technology, now being used in the oilfield gradually in general, the corresponding progressing cavity pump models, specifications, become more and more, the selection of progressing cavity pump becomes more and more important. Usually it was artificial selected, according to the working mediaã€working pressureã€flowã€electrical installation and other types of known conditions, from a number of the sample data. Artificial selection need the staff to list the original data first, and then estimate the pump flow rate and pressure head, then select the pump modelbased on the results, finally, on error.In this paper, a use of visual basic6.0and ly after the accounting can the progressive pump be applied, such an approach is inefficient and prone toMicrosoft Office Access2003as a development platform to develop a single-progressing cavity pump selection software, which consists of the following modules:User login module:The module only allows specific users to access and use this software to ensure the confidentiality and security of the software.Database module:The module has established a dynamic database of various models of PC-pump and the well condition parameters. The users can add modify and delete the contens of the database, and also can backup and restore the modified database.Equipment selection module:According to the Equipment Selection Module, the well condition parameters in the database can be transferred, the theory of head lift and discharge capacity also could be calculated using the empirical formula. Then by comparing screw pump database, the user select the proper mode to meet the requirements, and finally, exporting the specific parameters of the model and related information.Rod checking module:By importing the specific parameters of the screw pumps which have been selected to the Rod Column Check Module, and to calculate the axial load and torque of the screw pump rod columns, as well as to accomplish the strength check used the fourth strength theory Fault diagnosis module:this module integrates of three diagnostic methods, they are the current diagnosticã€torque diagnosis and oil production diagnosis respectively, users only need to enter the appropriate characterization, the fault of the situation and solution can be selected.By using the software to select progressing cavity pump is not only quick and accurate, but also improves the working efficiency and the accuracy of selection avoid the improper selection of the pump which may cause some problem, besides it saves time that used for reading the samples. Especially under the complex conditions, to select the appropriate model can not only reduce costs, prolonging the pump’s life, but also can improve the efficiency and stability of the system, by the time, the use of the software can also be oil rod shaft check and trouble shooting.
