Automated test system is controlled by the computer that replace human management.Itincludes human-computer interaction,general purpose interface system,test unit.The test unitand the human-computer interrtion through the interface module which can transmit andanalysis the data to implement a system to work effectively.The work of this thesis is mainly composed of three parts,the first part is design on digi-tal multimeter with interface platform, MCU, ICL7135analog to digital conversion andCPLD designed into a digital multimeter,finally,combining the GPIB interface module to themultimeter though interface platform.the second part is design on instrument with GPIBinterface.Use of CPLD to implement the GPIB controller chip.The design of the GPIBcontroller chip used a bottom-up modular design method, dividing the GPIB controller chipinto multiple sub-modules:interface message module,address decoder module the interruptmodule,multichannel data selection module,the interface function module,function registermodule,then make it with MCU for a interface system,the MCU response to interrupt formCPLD to implement the interface function.MCU, ICL7135analog to digital conversion andCPLD designed into a digital multimeter,finally,combining the GPIB inter-face system tothe multimeter though interface platform.The second part is the design of human-computerinteraction unit, useing of instrument control and GPIB functions provided by LabWindows/CVI to implement configuration and control of the instruments with GPIB interface.To verify the GPIB controller chip,write testbench in the Quartus II and use Quartus IIcalling Modelsim simulate the design,gived the simulation results.Though the data communi-cations with human-computer interation and GPIB interface to achieve human-computer inte-raction using SCPI commands control of test unit and receiving measurement data,and unit-matly to achieve the system’s functional requirement and test application.
