Infrared target simulator can simulate the real target and background infrared imaging in the laboratory, offer the exactly controlled and repeated condition for the testing and evaluation to the performance of the infrared detection equipments, testing each performance index during the development phase. In this paper, the optical system which contains the lighting system, the splitting system and the projection system is design based on digital-mirror device.Firstly, the basic structure and the principle of the digital-mirror device is briefly introduced, the kind and the advantage of the DLP system based on DMD is analyzed, the key technology of the DLP projection system when it used in infrared is analyzed,In order to solve the overlap problem between the illumination system and the projection system, the paper designs a splitter prism to separate the illumination beam from the projection beam. The lighting system use the blackbody as source illumined the DMD uniformly through a group of concentrate lens. Refers to the size of the DMD and the optical system parameter which to be test, fix the performance index of the projection system, A projection objective consisting of two material and three lens was designed, and the performance of the projection system was analyzed,the design results conforms to the using requirement.
