| With the continuous development of science and technology and the use ofelectronic devices, the electromagnetic environment is getting more and morecomplex. The problem that electromagnetic compatibility is trying to solve is to makea variety of electronic devices to work properly. As a common phenomenon of nature,electrostatic discharges (direct or indirect) will affect the normal working of theelectronic equipment. Therefore, as an electromagnetic compatibility test item, theelectrostatic discharge immunity test on the electronic devices is necessary.Electrostatic discharge immunity test equipment is electrostatic discharge generator.Electrostatic discharge generator, based on a variety of different standards anddesigned in accordance with the established electrostatic discharge model, is animportant equipment for electrostatic discharge immunity test. Calibration ofelectrostatic discharge generator is a prerequisite and necessary condition in order tocarry out the electrostatic discharge tests and to ensure that test results is accurate andrepeatable.This paper is based on electrostatic discharge generator calibration requirementson GB/T17626.2-2006. The standard’s definition describes the parameters ofelectrostatic discharge generator, such as output voltage, peak current Ipeak, rise time tr,the current value I30at30ns and the current value I60at60ns. The standard specifiesthe tolerance of the waveform parameter values, as well as electrostatic dischargecalibration target construction details. However few specifications in calibrationmethods are mentioned. According to standard’s requirements, appropriate equipmentshould be chosen. Electrostatic discharge calibration target which meets the standard’srequirements should be installed to form a complete set of calibration system forelectrostatic discharge generator.And this paper also analyzed a variety of factors that may affect the calibrationresults, including the different calibration layout and the different calibrationenvironment. The uncertainty of the calibration parameters was also assessed. Inaddition, there were some specifications not required in calibration parameters. Andthis paper also analyzed some possible reasons which may cause two electrostaticdischarge generators that meets the same standard specifications and very close in the waveform parameters, but don’t have the same result in electrostatic dischargeimmunity test. Because of the specifications and waveform parameters required in thestandard do not completely cover the generator characteristics, thus resulteddifference between electrostatic discharge generators.Finally, this paper summarized the finding of the study, and the calibrationmethod of the electrostatic discharge generator will be put into use in our work. |
