Single Cigarette Automatic Detection System is a device which is installed on the channels of cigarette making machine.It is used to complete the function of detection and removing single cigarette lacking of tobacco. But the current Single Cigarette Automatic Detection Systems have some problems of poor compatibility, low detection accuracy. So, the problem to be solved is how to improve the system’s compatibility and detection accuracy.This paper applied FPGA and DSP to automatic detection of cigarette making machine and then designed a kind of Single Cigarette Automatic Detection System. The system’s hardware part was developped by using modular design and constructed the hardware platform. Then, achieved Average algorithm and Bayesian algorithm through the programming of FPGA and DSP based on hardware platform. Parameters needed by these two algorithms are all obtained by field machine learning. Therefore, the application is more flexible than existing systems, more capable of adapting to the environment.Application of FPGA and DSP, the system’s processing power, compatibility and removing accuracy were greatly increased too.Finally through test verified that the system hardware and software worked properly.And the removing accuracy was higher than the domestic existing system’s,achieving the expected design demand.
