Design And Implementation Of Android Platform-based Instant Messaging System

Since the21st century, instant messaging system, as an emerging technology, hasbeen burgeoning. Based on mobile network, this system makes intercommunicationbetween online users in real time. Its outstanding advantage is convenient andefficient, which is favored by service industry and business domain since the advent.XMPP (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol) is a protocol based on ahigh degree of freedom and openness protocol based on an Extensible MarkupLanguage (XML). Any software following the XMPP protocol can communicate witheach other. XMPP has a scalable architecture and can be easily integrated into otherapplications. So it has a good prospect on large-scale systems like ERP, CRM.Currently, software giants including Google, Apple support XMPP protocol, too. Itpromotes and popularizes the XMPP protocol.In this paper, IM System based on the XMPP protocol was designed andimplemented on Openfire the Android. The system implements the basic functions,messaging, conference discussion groups, file transfer, and user management included.This essay focuses on the XMPP protocol and other technologies like Androidinterprocess communications. Finally, we developed a set of IM system mode. Ithelped to build their own IM systems for individuals or businesses. This systemproposed feasibility solutions to reduce the costs of production, make data transmitssafely and achieve interoperability with other communications systems.After developed the system, the author has run an operation test. From the testresult, it shows that the instant messaging system could smoothly realize userregistration, user log-in, grouping of friends, profile set-up, mobile informationexchanging and so on. Through the development of this system, the author hassuccessfully applied the XMPP protocol, solved the problem of interactive butt amongdifferent communication protocol on the Android platform. After putting into use, theresult indicates that this system has gain the outstanding user experiences and hasbeen gradually extended to practice engineering projects.
