Scrum is the leading agile development methodology, used by Fortune500companies around the world. Scrum is not a process, nor is it a building products technology, but rather a framework which can be applied to a variety of processes and technologies. The role of the Scrum development practices to the relative efficacy revealed for improvement. HM Company is a professional software design company which is the developer of the world’s top measurement software PC-DMIS for more than30years of history. As businesses grow, the user’s demand around the world is ever-changing. How to quickly meet the needs of users satisfied with the limited resources is a pressing issue in front of the HM Company.Firstly, this dissertation studied and analyzed the original project management organization and the workflow of software project development by combing with the special nature of software project management, for finding its problems in the software development process of HM Company’s organizational structure and management of software projects.Secondly, for the problems, using Agile and Scrum methods and tools, improve the project organizational structure and development process.Finally, through the application to software project in the HM Company (DP+) and the effects of the implementation, the analysis and evaluation show the validity of the Scrum to software project management improvement.Scrum originally was formalized for software development projects, but works well for any complex, innovative scope of work. The possibilities are endless. The Scrum framework is deceptively simple. But the Scrum brings a structure to projects that can right many wrongs, but it is not a silver bullet, and it certainly won’t make all problems disappear.
