Both in military field and civilian field, radar has been used widely. The technology of radar has great influence for the defense capability, the nature disaster forecasting ability and the communication ability of our nation. Radar servo system is a key link in the whole radar system, whose performance affects the tracking accuracy of radar directly. Therefore, it’s very necessary to improve the performance and monitor the real-time running state of radar servo system. However, considering the area where radars are applied is always geographically remote or of bad natural environment, monitoring the real-time running state of radar servo system on site is very inconvenient. So the remote monitoring of radar servo system has specially important research significance.In this paper, in order to optimize the performance and improve the remote monitoring method of the existing radar servo system, an Internet remote radar servo control system of high-performance is designed and implemented by taking advantages of virtual instruments. The core control content of the system is position and the driving elements of the system are stepping motor and BLDCM.The core controller of the servo system is CompactRIO which is based on Lab VIEW development platform. In the paper, to achieve the optimization of task assignment, different development frameworks and modes of CompactRIO are used to execute different functionalities of the system. Since position control is the core content of the paper, absolute value photoelectric encoder is selected as the feedback signal detecting element of the system to ensure the accuracy of the position feedback signal. Moreover, improved expert PID position control algorithm and ogee acceleration-deceleration control algorithm are emphatically designed to improve the performance of the servo system, which can suppress overshoot in the position control and the oscillation in the dynamic process of speed control effectively.Following works have been done in the paper:The hardware and software of drive control part, the current protection part and the feedback signal detection part have been designed and implemented; The LabVIEW program of the position and speed controller have been completed; The remote monitoring part based on TCP/IP also has been designed using TCP and UDP network communication functions of LabVIEW, which has realized remote transmission of datagram, containing control instruction data or real-time status data, between remote control terminal and on-site control terminal. In addition, the packaging and unpack methods of the datagram have been designed. At last, the integration of the whole system has been done.The radar servo system designed in the paper can be controlled with local method and remote method with a high steady accuracy and fast dynamic response ability. And the overshoot of position almost has been eliminated. It is obvious that the performance of the radar servo system has been optimized effectively.
