Abstract/Summary:
The research works are closely related with a scientific project. The designedsolutions of the radio network antennas are used for the aPPlications of the personalcomputers of all-metal shell. The content of the paper consists of two main parts: thefirst part is about the fabrications of the five prototypical antennas, and the second partis about the measuring experiment of the laptop antennas. The main contents can besummarized as follows,1. Based on the theories of slot antenna, the dual-band slot antennas covering thebands of GSM850/900/1800/1900/UMTS are designed, including the asymmetric slotantenna, the M-shaped slot antenna, the antenna with slots between faces of B and C,the back cavity slot antenna, and the compact antenna with slot on B and C sides. Eachof the antennas has its own advantages. The asymmetric-slot antenna and M-shaped slotantenna are easy to be conformed and owns concealed-configuration characteristic. Thebacked cavity antenna, the antenna with slots between faces of B and C, and thecompact antenna with slot on B and C sides perform better than other mentionedantennas. The compact one displays efficiency up to38%.2. Containing the designed prototypical antenna, the laptop’s mode of all-metal ismanufactured and analyzed. The results show that a lot of difference exists between theall-metal prototype mode in the real environment and the simulation one. It is found thatmany complicated electronic elements are arranged on the motherboard of the notebook, which is accounted for those differences. Different screws located on different places ofthe board also give a reason to the distinctions. The results are impacted by the wiringsystem, locations of the ground point and so on. The dimensions of the motherboard andthe being of the fan also affect the electrical performance of the antenna. Consideringthose different situations, the antennas with different features are designed.
