Fabry-Perot (FP) cavity antenna has the empty feeding flat low profile structure, it can significantly improve the antenna gain and aperture efficiency, it’s a new hot spot of the high-efficiency and high-gain antenna. In this paper, the main development direction research is dual-band Fabry-Perot cavity antenna.First, it states the radiation principle of dual-band Fabry-Perot resonator antenna, and Partially Reflecting Surface (PRS) cover of the dual-band Fabry-Perot resonator antenna is studied in details. then it states the resonance condition of the dual-band Fabry-Perot resonator antenna with two-sided circle ring elements and the dual-band Fabry-Perot resonator antenna using high impedance surface(HIS)。Then Fabry-Perot resonator antenna is designed with a rectangular patch antenna as the primary radiator and Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) with two-sided circle ring elements as PRS cover. Firstly the dual band antenna is designed, then using defect modes model to analyze the frequency selective property of the cavity with two-sided circle ring. Last, effects of the cavity height, primary source and FSS cover on the aperture efficiency are investigated.And then dual-band Fabry-Perot resonator antenna using HIS is proposed to obtain Fabry-Perot resonator antenna with any dual-band. The primary radiator is a rectangular patch antenna, PRS cover is FSS with double one-sided circle ring elements, and HIS is around the rectangular patch antenna. Last, effects of the cavity height, primary source and FSS cover on the aperture efficiency are investigated.The whole simulation study is conducted with CST Microwave Studio. A dual-band Fabry-Perot resonator antenna with two-sided circle ring FSS is fabricated and measured, and the test results show that it resonates on dual-band, and has good bandwidth and gain. |
