The modern society is an information society,communication technology as afrontier technology has been rapid developed for these years.Wireless technologieshave been everywhere,increasingly affecting our daily lives.Antennas as the gatewaydevice of the wireless communication,the quality of the performance have a directimpact on signal processing.Therefore,deeply research and design of the antenna hasa very important significance.This paper is based on the theory of electromagnetic waves and antennatechnology,analyzed the role of microstrip antennas for modern communicationsystems.In this paper, we started the research from microstrip antennas to masterantenna’s design processes and parameters testing.Also there two ultra-broadbandmicrostrip antennas are mentioned.The first ultra-wideband antenna is based on aC-type gap ring with the characteristics of band-stop in WIFI band. Anotherultra-wideband antenna use the theory of SRR and DGS structure to antenna design,and has the dual band-stop characteristics in WIFI and WIMAX band. After researchthe characteristics of unit microstrip antenna,we find that the gain of unit microstripantenna is low and the bandwidth is narrow.In order to solve the current problems ofthe unit microstrip antenna,the paper combined microstrip antenna and array antennatechnology,then proposed a new multi-layer structure microstrip antenna array atKu-band with high-gain.The structure has solved the problem that the gain is low andbandwidth is narrow in single microstrip antenna.The antenna is mainly used in thefields of satellite communications which is increasingly high demanded.The main design part of this paper used the Rogers RT5880microwave dielectricplate to design the antenna and using4X4array layout.Due to the common arrayantenna’s feed network and the unit patch based on the same radiating surface,theparasitic radiation from the feed network has an important influence on the performance of the antenna array,such as the gain and S-parameter.Microstrip slotcoupled feed structure is used in this paper, the feed network as a separate layer at theback of the antenna to effectively reduce the parasitic radiation effects.In order toresolve the problem of narrow bandwidth,after reference to a number of articles themultilayer structure technology is put forward.And the introduction of air dielectriclayer has effectively expanded the operating bandwidth of the antenna.The finalrealization of the gain achieved20.5dB in the effective bandwidth,and the measuredbandwidth is about2.2GHz. The array area is84.7mmX71.5mm,relative to the sameantennas the size of the proposed antenna has been well controlled....
