The main work of this paper is to study and design an X-band circularly polarized microstrip antenna array. In the current wireless communication system,because the circular polarization antenna has a unique anti-interference and anti-rain and fog, and is widely used in a variety of wireless communication systems. With the increasing upgrading of communication systems, people have made new demands on circular polarized antennas, such as high gain, wide frequency band, miniaturization,low cost, directional radiation and so on.The main research work in this paper is as follows:1. After studying and understanding the basic principle of’ circular polarization,we design a circularly polarized microstrip antenna working in X-band with reference to the related literature. The antenna uses a cut angle and coaxial feed design method to achieve the purpose of antenna circular polarization. The antenna compared to similar antennas, small size, simple structure, better performance. The measured results are generally consistent.2. After understanding the working principle and analysis method of the array antenna, the antenna is composed of 2 x 2 array antenna,and the array antenna adopts double-layer plate clamping structure. After optimizing the parameters, design the feed network. The results of array simulation can meet the requirements of circular polarization antenna, and the measured results are ideal.3. The 2×2 array antenna is used as the array element, and the 4×4 array antenna is built. After repeating the design of the 2 x 2 array antenna, the simulation result is smaller than the measured result4. The 4×4 array antenna is regarded as a series element, and the 8 x 8 array antenna is formed. After optimizing the principle, the maximum gain of the array antenna is 21dB, and has a wide working bandwidth and good circular polarization performance. The measured results are not much different from the simulation and can be used in circular polarized radar antennas.
