| Nowadays, virtualization technology is changing the entire IT infrastructure and broughtunprecedented adjustment and impact to traditional computer management. With virtualizationtechnology to deal with the sharing and management of the IT infrastructure to meet the needsof users and applications through providing resources dynamically, at the same time, providingsimplified access to the infrastructure is more and more widely used. Looking around the world,no doubt that it has become the most important and one of the most influential computertechnologies in the future period of time.The paper has elaborated how virtualization technology pooled the physical resources andhow a variety of technical characteristics provided a linear computing environment from theoryto practice. The related functions data were tested to get a conclusion that VMware vSpherevirtualization platform is reliable, efficient and flexible for all the business as a productiveenvironment. At the same time, the paper has verified that the VMware virtualizationtechnology can consolidate servers, improve the utilization of resources and facilitate themanagement, at last, improve all the factors of IT operation and maintenance services.The basic structure of the paper is, based on VMware vSphere virtualization architecture,first give the modern background, the related concepts, characteristics and developmentprocess of virtualization technology and then extended to the designing and planning of theoperational level virtualization platform based on VMware vSphere. In the basis of it, througha series of tables and charts give related testing data, and then summarize the strengths andweaknesses in the modern development process of virtualization technology.
