In recent years, social network worms have become major issues in the computer network security. Internet worm is a standalone piece of malicious code, which has the ability to self-replicate and spread rapidly. The cost of writing a network worm is simply, but fast diffusion and self-propagation ability will lead to the problem that a large number of network hosts are infected in a short period of time, next a large number of hosts paralysis, causing huge economic losses.. Following the portals, Search engines and social network has become the third wave of the global Internet business model that has great commercial value. The social network worms use social engineering to spread. Various ways are made to entice users to click a class of worms. Based on the traditional computer network worm, network worm is a malicious code combined with social engineering techniques, which has more hidden temptation, longer lifetime, more complex mode of transmission. Security issues on social networking worm have got more attention from the researchers in recent years gradually. In this case, the current domestic and international research and related problems about traditional network worm and social networking worm are summarized. We illustrate the importance of the social network worm propagation model in the social network security issues, compare and analyze the characteristics of infectious disease spread model. Eventually a social network-based worm propagation model is proposed.Next we illustrate the importance of the social network worm detection technology. We make the classification of several detection techniques, a social network worm detection technology based on the level of security model is described.
