Since the first Strategic Transformation, the Commercial Bank inChina finished the transformation of traditional owned commercial Bank toModern joint-stock commercial bank, and Asset Size, Profitability and CoreCompetence considerably improved, improved obviously the CorporateGovernance Structure, which laid a fairly good foundation for the rapiddevelopment of the future. However, with the change of exterior businessenvironment, our commercial Bank still exerted pressing pressure oftransformation. The External Management Constraints as Interest RatesLiberalization, Financial Disintermediation and Financial Globalizationrequired the Commercial Bank in China to adjust and reform the businesspattern and development model and implement the second strategictransformation in order to improve the ability for the market changes anddisperse the operation risk.In recent years, commercial strategic transformation produced heateddiscussions among policymaking authorities, academic circles andemployees in Bank profession, though there still existed different views onrealization and routing of the strategic transformation of commercial bank.However, the fairly uniform conclusion is that the strategic transformationof commercial bank should start from its resource endowment, begin withaccommodation of external condition’s change in market, take the path fordevelopment of differentiation and characterizing and establish its special comparative advantages. From the supply-demand structure of ruralfinancial markets recently, financial supply was relatively inadequate andcompetition in financial market was not yet to a sufficient extent, and ruralfinal market had great potential for growth. For this reason, this paperregards Shanghai Pudong Development Bank as its research, studieswhether establishing rural bank has positive significance to its strategictransformation. The paper adopts the methodology of combining thetheoretical analyses with empirical analyses, analyzes the content anddirection of strategic transformation, deals with the development trends andcharacteristics of rural economy and finance development, and tries todevise the conclusion of significance of establishing rural bank on ShanghaiPudong Development Bank by expounding the feasibility and necessity ofestablishing rural bank and the necessary relation between its feasibility andnecessity and the strategic transformation goal of Shanghai PudongDevelopment Bank.The framework and main content of the thesis as follows:The first chapter is introduction, which presents the background of theresearch, makes concisely concept definition and introduces the researchframework and research results.The second chapter is brief literature Review on study summarizationon rural finance theory and rural bank both at home and abroad.The third chapter expounds the background, actuality andcharacteristics of establishing rural bank in Shanghai Pudong DevelopmentBank.The forth chapter presents firstly the background of commercial bankin China and then expounds the background, goal and strategic choice of thestrategic transformation of Shanghai Pudong Development Bank.The fifth chapter focuses on the importance significance ofestablishing rural bank on Shanghai Pudong Development Bank by analysison the current rural finance market and rural economy development.The sixth chapter studies the influence of establishing rural bank on corporate value of Shanghai Pudong Development Bank by Event Study.The seventh chapter is policy recommendations.The eighth chapter is conclusion and researching expectation.
