The thesis focuses on the economic openness and services development. Basic category andapproach of the research, the thesis makes a systematic review for the realities and related studiesof economic openness and services development in China. By clarifying the theoreticalconnotation and characteristics of development of services and economic openness, theoreticalframework was build. Under the theoretical framework, we analysis the theory relationshipbetween economic openness and services development. Based this, demonstrated the relationshipbetween economic openness and services development by using the annual time-series data from1982~2009and panel data from2003~2009. Then, after a brief analysis of the result, the paperadvances some suggestion.The main conclusions of the research are:(1) Theoretical analysis indicates that: under the condition of open economy, economicopenness and the development of services have positive relationship. Economic openness stimulateservices economic growth through Capital accumulation effect、technology advancementeffect、institutional change and other means. At the same time services development expand thetrade and international direct investment(2) The causality test results of Economic openness and the development of services are asfollows: Trade openness and services development has positive relationship, and the capitalopenness and services development has negative correlation.(3)The relationship between economic openness and services development is different indifferent area:in the east and the centre,the relationship between services and trade openness ispositive correlation,while the relationship between services and capital openness is Negativecorrelation. In the west both trade openness and capital openness have Positive relationship.
