This dissertation aims to discuss the status of Euro in theInternational Monetary System in the recent decade. Due to the reasonthat the U.S. dollar stays at the core of this system, the relationbetween Euro and U.S. dollar is the main focus of this dissertation.The argument of the dissertation is that Euro has challenged the topstatus of U.S. dollar in the International Monetary System, however,Euro is not able to replace U.S. dollar as the most important currencyin the near future. In order to support this argument, the dissertationis divided into four chapters. Chapter One: the establishment,development and operation of Euro. Chapter Two: the challenge of Euroto U.S. dollar. Chapter Three: Euro is not able to replace U.S. dollaras the top currency in the International Monetary System in the nearfuture. Chapter Four: the breakup of Euro Crisis and its impact on Euro.The writer talks about the background and the operation system of eurowith the methodology of history research. Secondly, the writer analysesthe political and economic role played by euro from the perspective ofEuropean Integration. Additionally, the writer discusses the challengeof euro to U.S. dollar and the limits faced by euro, making use of severaleconomics theories, such as international monetary and monetary inertia.Last but not least, the writer analyses the influence of Euro Crisison Euro.
