With the development of logistics industry, storage system as an important part of supply chain is facing increasing requirements. The development of storage system requires the application of new technologies and methods to change the traditional mode of operation. In technology information era, Internet of Things (IoT) is gradually supplied in various industries. People in different industries pay more attention to the application of IoT. However, when coming to how IoT technology can better be systematically applied to storage system, there actually exists a lot of problems.This paper mainly studies IoT system and storage system. On the basis of related literature at home and abroad, the paper discusses the concept, basic architecture and technologies related to IoT respectively and systematically. Then considering actual needs of storage systems, it uses IoT system to design and describe storage system architecture. Then it evaluates the storage system based on IoT.Since the birth of IoT, different concepts related to IoT have come out accompanied with the development of IoT. These concepts make people feel confused when understanding IoT. Through analysis of domestic and international research on IoT, the paper firstly analysizes the concepts of IoT and then summarizes the functions and characters of IoT. At the same time based on the introduction of IoT’s basic architecture and relevanted technology, the paper introduces the application characteristics and development trends of IoT in detail. Secondly, in order to solve the problems in storage system and improve the management efficiency of storage system, combined with the advantages of IoT the paper applies IoT systems to the systematically design of storage management objects and methods. The specific systems are as follows:coding system, RFID system, network architecture system, software module design system and layout of hardware devices system. Thirdly, the paper uses systems modeling language (SysML) to describe storage system architecture. Through specifically describing system requirements, structure and behavior with SysML, it shows the various aspects of storage system how to work based on IoT. Finally, the paper evaluates storage system based on IoT from different angles and levels. It mainly uses analytic network process (ANP) to contrast storage system based on IoT and traditional storage.Considering the features of IoT and the needs of storage system development, the paper applies IoT to storage system architecture design. In this way the structure and the operation mechanism of storage system are changed. Besides, the problems existing in storage system are also be solved. At the same time, the paper systematically describes and evaluates storage system. All these have a certain theoretical and practical significance for the construction of storage system with IoT.
