The Dong minority has a population of more than2.9million in China. More than1.20million Dong people among them live in qiandongnan, accounting for about42%of the Dong population all over China. The Dong villages in qiandongnan are well preserved and their Dong characteristics are prominent. At present the research of the Dong village is mainly about single building, including residential building and single landmark public building, space form of single village, space form of villages in some areas, cultural meaning of single building and culture relics of building, in terms of architecture, history and folklore. Then the two fundamental types are subdivided into mountain group type, mountain strip type, valley group type and valley strip type.Secondly, according to the targeted research in qiandongnan, the author finds out that various Dong villages have an common space component namely architecture archetype——double bay style Dong residential building unit, and other building variants are based on this unit. This paper studies the changing system from the archetype to building variant, the system from building to space of Dong villages. Then the author makes systematic study of the space form of Dong villages in the logic order of Dong residential building, neighborhood space, street space form, holistic village space form.
