Allows Foreign Banks Competition Strategy And Countermeasures Study Chinese Banks

China’s financial market has been open to foreign banks. Currently, foreign banks either choose compete or cooperate with local banks. Studying the competition and cooperation strategy between foreign and local banks, giving consults for the local banks are of important theoretical and practical significance. Based on the Co-opetition theory and the analysis of advantage and disadvantage of foreign and local banks, the writer propose four type of Co-opetition strategy:H1-preliminary cooperation and competition, H2-preliminary cooperation and advanced competition, H3-advanced cooperation and preliminary competition, H4-advanced cooperation and competition. Then deep category analysis is conducted towards the pattern, motivation and typical banks of the four types of Co-opetition strategy. It can be found that foreign banks will not always choose one strategy. After the studying of the major factor influencing Co-opetition strategy of foreign banks, the thesis concludes that currently more foreign banks prefer to adopt advanced cooperation and preliminary competition (H3) with local banks, however in long term, advanced cooperation and competition strategy (H4) will be more adopted. In the final part, suggestions are provided for local banks about how to deal with the Co-opetition strategy from foreign banks, from the perspective of domestic and international market.
