In The Western Region Of Small And Medium-sized Enterprise Internationalization: Present Situation And Advance

Three decades of reform and opening up has laid a foundation for China’s rapideconomic development, especially in western regions of China which benefit from itsopening up and reform. But China’s western region still belongs to China’sunderdeveloped areas. In order to change the imbalance of domestic regionaldevelopment, Chinese government start to implement the western development strategyin January 2000.Because of the western development strategy implementation ,the focusof China’s economy began to transfer to the western region. Therefore, in the context ofChina’s reform and opening up and the western development strategy, small and mediumenterprises in the western region has made great progress. With the deepening of thedegree of openness of China’s western region, the western region SMEs inevitable will goout of the country to conduct international SME internationalization of the westernregion.This paper first analyzes the internationalization of SMEs in the western region inthe international facing economic globalization, an ultra-strong the world economy ofinternational background and facing the western development and reform and opening upthe domestic context. In this context, the paper analyzes the western region SMEs to carryout the international status quo in the western region to develop the internationalization ofSMEs mainly state-owned enterprises in terms of industry distribution is mainlyconcentrated in the resource-intensive, labor-intensive industries, geographicaldistribution mainly concentrated in Hong Kong and Europe and North America. Thisarticle further pointed out that the western region SMEs in the internationalization of theproblem was concentrated in management and financing. Then the paper analyzes theinternational experience in Western countries and in eastern regions of China, and somesuccessful enterprises. Finally, we learn from on the basis of international developmentissues for small and medium enterprises in western region, putting forward correspondingcountermeasures from two aspects of business and government.
