During Tang and Song Dynasties, economy of Sichuan basin develops flourishingly. It promotes changes in economic structure of rural households. We can investigate the changes from consumption structure and industrial structure. The research not only deepens the knowledge of rural urbanization’s motivation, but also provides historical reference for rural urbanization nowadays as well as three dimensional rural issues.The manifestations of changes in rural consumption structure in Sichuan basin are as follows:the foodstuff of landlords is always surplus and offered for sale, while some farmers need to purchase foodstuff in the market. Vegetables from the home-grown gradually becomes into buy them in the market.The housing of the powerful landlords is luxurious. Though building a rough house, they buy building materials in the market. Weddings, especially funerals are more and more sumptuous, and burial objects are bought in the market. Due to overrunning of temple worship, rural families have to spent money on buying more offerings. Farmers are influenced by urban lifestyle, too. They begin to pay attention to the dress. Besides, farm implements are purchased in the market, and workhand is common as well. There is no doubt that the connection between rural households and market is strengthened.The changes in production structure and mode of operation are mainly in:firstly, phenomenon of is universalized. The reasons are as follows."Sideline" can enrich the daily life and its earnings can be used as family subsidies. Besides, with the development of commodity economy, farmers’demand for currency is becoming stronger and stronger. There are lots of rural households that work on flower industry, apiculture, sericulture, hawkers and workhand sidelines. Secondly,"specialized households" appears in large numbers. Agricultural and sideline specialized households are grain production households, economic crop cultivation households, livestock breeding households, fishery households;handicraft industry specialized households are including well salt households, weaving and dyeing households, papermaking and printing households, carpentry households and handicraft households, among which well salt households, weaving and dyeing households are common;service households mainly operate hotels and transportation.Changes in economic structure of rural households intensify farmers’demands for currency and reliance on market, which promote market’s prosperity and the development of rural economy. It also plays an important role in town’s forming. Therefore, change in economic structure of rural households is one of the significant causes of rural urbanization in Sichuan basin.
