The rapid development of China’s auto industry not only provides the vehicle logistics enterprise with a good opportunity but also raises higher requirements on the transportation capacity and service quality to the vehicle logistics enterprise. Loading automobile as an important link in the vehicle logistics exerts a great influence on the promotion of transportation capacity and service quality of vehicle logistics enterprise. At present, loading automobile by railway still relies mainly on the manual operation, and loading schemes are mainly based on workers’experience, which lead to higher error rate, transportation capacity waste and quality-damages in the procedure of loading or unloading. Then it causes the low speed of information transmission, the depressed management efficiency and the poor service quality. Therefore, the research on loading optimization of automobile logistics by railway will play an important role for railway transport enterprise to excavate its transportation capacity, control the logistics cost, improve the service quality and enhance the market competitiveness.On the basis of analyzing the current automobile loading situation and development of China Railway Special Cargo Automobile Logistics (CRSCAL) Company, the thesis firstly analyses the types of automobile carried by railway and summarizes the transport vehicle owned by the company. Then JSQ5and JSQ6double-deck special wagon for automobile transportation which are mainly used to transport the automobile are introduced, and their request to the width and height of the automobile according to their structural details is also analyzed. Then an artificial loading optimization method is presented, including the first stage of the maximum transportation capacity optimization of special wagon for automobile transportation by railway and the second stage of loading optimization for the orders. The first stage is based on the layout algorithm, and the maximum transportation capacity scheme of special wagon for automobile transportation by railway when loading different kinds of automobile could be determined according to dividing the parking places of special wagon for automobile transportation by railway and constructing relation tree for automobile inclusion. Based on the matching method and the first stage, the loading optimization for the order is determined. Afterwards, based on tabu search algorithm, loading optimization of special wagon for automobile transportation by railway is studied. A loading optimization model of kinds of automobile and a certain number of special wagons for automobile transportation by railway, and the solution for the loading optimization problem based on tabu search algorithm is designed. Then the loading optimization problem is solved by using C programming language. Finally, the availability and practicability of using the program language to solve the automobile loading problem are proved according to the example.
