With the formation of the global market and the development of network economy,more and more companies focus on the performance of the supply chain includingmanufacturers, suppliers and retailers instead of their own performance. As we all know,transportation and inventory control are the main parts of the supply chain management, inorder to control the cost of the inventory, vendor managed inventory (VMI) is concernedmore and more by enterprises and scholars. According to the theory research andapplication, VMI can always bring benefits to downstream enterprises. But for the vendor,the effect of VMI can not be ensured due to the constraint of logistics ability. As a result,with the integration of VMI and TPL, supplier can focus on their core competitiveness andthe efficiency of the supply chain will be increased with the entry of the third partylogistics. However, the theory and the practices of inventory and routing problem are notvery mature. In this context, the thesis studies the theory and the key technologies ofinventory and routing problem with the integration of VMI and TPL.Based on the scholar’s research of theory and practice of inventory and routingproblem, Firstly, the thesis gives the definition of the VMI-TPL mode, expatiates thenecessity and feasibility of the integration of VMI-TPL, the analysis of operation mode andmost importantly, the value added of this mode. Secondly, the definition of inventory androuting problem and the importance of this problem are proposed, based on the study of thestrategy of inventory and routing under VMI-TPL, the model of integrating inventory androuting under centralized control of VMI-TPL supply chain is built using the FixedPartition Policies(FPP) and integer ratio cycle. At last, the dissertation proposes a heuristicalgorithm which is based on Matlab7.5and ant colony algorithm.The research enriches the theory of inventory and routing problem based on VMI-TPLand provides a theoretical basis and implementation guide for the construction of inventoryand routing problem at the same time. Thesis has important theoretical and practicalsignificance.
