Domestic management consulting industry has been rapidly developed since the reform and opening up. The number of registered enterprises now has Considerable quantity from no one, but most of them are small companies. Compare With the international management consulting companies there is still a big gap. How to seek for survival and development in an open competitive market? How to find their own competitive advantages and rapidly grow in the market segments? The founders and practitioners of domestic management consulting companies have to face and think of the two problems. This paper selects a management consulting company (H company) which has been set up for ten years in Shanghai to research. The market positioning of this company is to serve the electric power industries (the State Grid Corporation and China Southern Power Grid Company).And enjoys high brand and awareness in the market segments. The Company has been developing to high and new technology enterprise which has its own management technology and software products from served skills training and Simple management consulting business.This paper applies strategic management thoughts and theory to comprehensive study, including analyze Industry environment and internal resources and finding H’s opportunities and threats by applied SWOT analysis tool. Then combined with the advantages of H company to choose the future development strategy, and work out the strategic planning for the next five years, applying1369principles to execute the strategic planning. At the same time putting forward the short-term and long-term motivation to control. The conclusion of this paper is to suggest the H company to change the traditional mode of management consulting business, use modern information technology to innovate the management method, establish Research and Development Center of dependent intellectual property rights and construct core competence that can compete with international company. The results of this study is certainly instructive and Prospective can provide a new perspective and method for development strategies of the domestic management consulting companies.
