Tourists’ increasing interests in recreational activities and therequirement in sustainable development have aroused the scholars’interests, both at home and abroad, in studying the impact thatrecreational activities have on the scenic environment, as well as thecarrying capacity of the scenic environment.Nanning Qingxiu Mountain is a national scenic spot and one ofNanning’s Top Ten Sights. Therefore, its exploitation and utilization, aswell as its impact on the environment of downtown, Nanning, are worthyof our study. Using the method of field sampling, survey, andquestionnaire of the tourists, the author studies the characteristics of thedistribution of the tourists and their behavioral characteristics. The resultis like this: most of the tourists’ recreational activities focus on someparticular scenic spots under regular schedules with undiversified forms.First of all, the author chooses those typical scenic spots whichattract a large number of tourists as sampling points, and those with fewtourists and less pollution as control points. Then the author monitors thewater and air there twice: once is on a weekend, when they are visitedoften, and the other time is on a working day, when they are visited lessoften. The intention is to study the impact of tourist activity has on thewater and air of the scenic area with precision. The result shows that tourist activity on working day has less impact on the water and air of thescenic area than that on weekend. The general water body in the scenicarea is fine, only a few indicators exceed the standard. At the same time, the atmospheric environment of the scenic area is poor, among which SO2is seriously out of limits. Then, for the reason that the vegetation andfunction among different scenic spots vary a lot, the author, for theconsideration of heterogeneity of the soil and vegetation, focuses on threesample regions, nine sample plots, and twenty five quadrats, and thensamples the soil and vegetation form every quadrat. After that, the authorstudies the volume-weight, PH value and moisture content of the soil, aswell as the species number and vegetation coverage of the vegetation, inorder to find out and analyze the annual passenger flow and quarterlypassenger flow of the scenic spots, as well as their impact on herbaceousvegetation. The impact increases progressively in this order: setting area, buffer area and activities area. For the above conclusions, the author provides some solutions for theprotection of the vegetation, soil, water environment and atmosphericenvironment of Qingxiu Mountain. However, due to her limitations ofpersonal ability and knowledge, the author didn’t study the wild animalsor landscape factors. Therefore, the author holds that in the followingstudies, attention could be focused on two elements: one is the impact ofrecreational activities on wild animals and landscape factors; the other is the analysis and study on time scale.
