The study make use of the explicit scale and IAT to examined preferences and fit between two regulatory modes, referred to as locomotion and assessment (Higgins,Kruglanski,&Pierro,2003; Kruglanski, et al.,2000), and leadership styles, referred to as democratic leadership style and authoritarian leadership style, practiced by supervisors over their subordinates and test the effect of the regulatory fit. The explicit results showed that the assessment score has a positive correlation with the score in ideal leadership style. The IAT produce a different results:individuals high in locomotion prefer the authoritarian leadership style, individuals high in assessment prefer the democratic leadership style. Analysis of variance showing that the job satisfaction of subordinates was found to be higher when the style of strategic influence practiced by their supervisor fit their regulatory mode orientation (high locomotion/democratic leadership style, high assessment/authoritarian leadership style. If the regulatory fit happens, the individuals’self-esteem and self-actualization needs were stronger.
