Efficiency Of Listed Banks In Our Country Empirical Study

Finance is the lifeblood of the national economy, banks are the core of the Finance, and the bank efficiency is related to the Sustainable and healthy development of the national economy. With the constant deepening of Chinese financial reform and the gradual opening up of the domestic financial sector, Chinese banking industry is facing unprecedented challenges. The key to winning this challenge is bank efficiency. The measurements and analysis of listed banks’Efficiency play a guiding role on how to improve the overall efficiency of China’s banking industry.Based on the domestic and foreign scholars’researches on the efficiency of banks, the essay firstly defines the concept of the bank’s efficiency, and compares the efficiency of the main methods of banking. Then select the data of13listed banks between the year of2007-2009to measure the efficiency of the current situation, and found the four major factors which affect to the efficiency of banks:profitability factor, asset quality factor, capital management factor and factor mobility with Factor Analysis. Following that results, apply DEA to decompose the efficiency of banks and search the reasons from allocative efficiency, pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency of banks. Research drawn:1.the efficiency of new commercial banks is better than four state-owned banks, while the market reforms of state-owned banks in recent years enhance their efficiency to some extent;2. the main reasons drives the efficiency of banks are allocative efficiency and scale efficiency. At last, this paper proposed some suggestions on product innovation, internal management, the introduction of strategic investors, etc. to improve efficiency and enhance competitiveness of commercial banks.
