Controlling Misplacing And Losing Goods In Logistics Service

The customer complaints and the settlement of claims are increasing year by year, because of misplacing and losing customers’goods in the process of logistics service, and it is one of the outstanding problems faced by logistics enterprises. Research on misplacing and losing goods controlling can provide effective ways for logistics enterprises to increase service level, reduce logistics cost and improve brand image and market competitiveness.Six-Sigma management method is employed in this paper, it considered the controlling of misplacing and losing goods in logistics service based on the example of a logistics company. Firstly, the business process of a logistics company is divided into receiving process, transfer process and delivery process. The problem definition is based on the analysis and summarization factors that may lead to misplacing or losing goods. Secondly, according to the data of LTL operations, the stepwise regression analysis is used to identify the key factors of misplacing and losing goods. The results show that ratio of misplacing and losing goods are related to type of packaging, the number of good, volume number, different lines and regions, arrival and departure time. Again, based on major incentives obtained by the results of data analysis, this paper summarizes the main factors of misplacing and losing goods. For the result, it proposes the control program from the perspective of process improvement. Finally, controlling system is established and process control is executed from the key links of risk assessment and controlling, major incentives monitoring and management, emergency measures.
