In recent years,Policy-oriented agricultural insurance has got more and moreattentions by Chinese government and the academic society in China. Academicstudies on agricultural insurance were done more deeply, and the pilot projects ofagricultural insurance have been done in almost every provinces of China. However,setting the premium rate of agricultural insurance,which is an important point inagricultural insurance,was not got enough attentions in China till now.At present, due to the short years of the policy-oriented agriculture insurancebusiness,data of underwriting and loss that have been collected is also very limited.The absence of strong actuarial technical support lead to agricultural insurancepremium setting is not reasonable.In this paper, after introducing a variety of risk classification methods forratemaking, author research the application of generalized linear models forratemaking in agricultural insurance,and discuss its superiority.With a propertyinsurance company’s data in Hunan province, author makes an empiricalanalysis.Comparing with traditional methods using on ratemaking,author draw theconclusion that method using the generalized linear models is more suitable for theratemaking of agricultural insurance.At the same time,author gives some suggestionsabout how to perfect and improve the agricultural insurance market,in order to usingthis pricing method....
