Research On Enhancement Of Tourism Development Of Historic Districts In The Old City Of Xi’an Based On The Vision Of City Culture

Cities are the distinctive mark of the civilization of human society. Cities are not onlyfunctional but cultural. Culture is one of the basic systems that a city needs to maintain anddevelop."City" and "culture" are inseparable concept. Their relationship is increasingly closein the course of history. They jointly nourish the city construction and cultural development,and created "city culture" which is called city soul. City culture plays an important role ofsaving the memories of the city, clearing city location, determining the quality of the city,showing city scenes, shaping the spirit of the city and supporting city development.Historic districts are important districts of reflecting the city culture and historicalconnotations. They are cultural heritages of city development and historical change, andrecord the historical changes of the city, contain a long historical culture."The protection ofthe historic districts has become an important part of the protection of historical and culturalheritage."Based on the vision of city culture, This paper focus on reshaping the culturalcharacteristics and enhancing tourism development of the historic districts, emphasizes thatthe historic districts should become the effective path from "functional city" to "culturalcity".The object of this study is the old city of13km2enclosed by the city walls in Xi’an. Thispaper analyzes and evaluates the current situations of the historic districts in old city by fieldresearch and inductive analysis. This paper focus on the tourism resources, context andservice functions of the historic districts from the macro, meso and micro level system and tryto further strengthen the exploration significance of the historic districts for the city context ofXi’an through framing the display system of point, line, surface. Finally, this paper proposesmeasures and recommendations on the tourism display path, design of travel line product andtourism service functions to make Xi’an become an international metropolis and an importantbase that highlight Chinese civilization.
