Cities are the results of the development of human civilization, Cities is preserved in China is carrying containers of Chinese civilization. Chinese histories because of the millennium, multi-ethnic prosperity in the vast territory form a number of cities with their own characteristics. Historic cities are from these characteristics in the cities selected by the most features, the most representative and best performance of the Chinese development of traditional Chinese culture and the city.Due to the rise of cultural tourism, historic city to become the new focus of tourism How to utilize the historic cities tourism resources become into the focus of the tourism sector and academic sector. Our country large number of historic cities, widely distributed, resources and diverse, rich content, during developing historic city tourism resources, it is infeasible that using the same method.This paper based on tangible and intangible resources, according to characteristics of resources and historical development will be different historic city classification. In analysis to Nanchang, Jiangxi and Zhengding Hebei two historic city as examples according to the characteristics of the resources to bring forward the development of different strategies.Red tourism resources are main tourism resources, supported by "green" and "ancient" resources in Nanchang.
