His Economic Thought Research

Gu Zhun, with a life filled with frustrations and legends, is the first person to have putforward China’s market economic theory. With the research on Gu Zhun’s lifeexperiences and the developing process of his economic and other academic thought,this thesis fully shows the essence and sublimating process of his economic thought,the status of which in Chinese Modern History of Economic Thought being assessedfairly and objectively. The thesis aims to review the theoretical basis and target ofmarket economy designed by Gu Zhun with the research on his thought on marketeconomy, which helps to detect the present problems in the reform and provideinstructions for the future market economy reform. The thesis firstly studies on threeturning-point events that determined Gu Zhun’s life and individual and social factorswhich prompted him to make the life-changing decisions, trying to provide a vividbackground for the further analysis of his thought. Secondly, by comparing andanalyzing the politicians and economists’ views on the basic economic laws of thesocialist market economy at that time, the thesis takes a bird’s-eye view of the socialbackground and different theories when Gu Zhun proposed his market economictheory. Thirdly, the thesis comprehensively shows the essence of market economicthought in-depth by the analysis and evaluation on the content of papers and writingsreflecting Gu Zhun’s market economic thought. Finally, with an overall analysis onthe content and developing process of Gu Zhun’s economic, philosophical andpolitical thought, the thesis tries to show the width and depth of his thought, which isbeneficial to make a reasonable and historical evaluation on the academic value of GuZhun’s economic thought and their position in Chinese Modern History of EconomicThought.
