Research On Lixiannian’s Economic Thought Since The Founding Of New China

Li Xiannian is an outstanding leader of the CPC and China. He is a great proletarian revolutionist, a communist with firm belief in Marxism, in addition to a pioneer, leader and founder of the new China’s economic construction. As an older generation of revolutionist and a national leader, Li has served as Vice-Premier, President and Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee. He has paid painstaking efforts and made important contributions to the exploration of socialist road with Chinese characteristics and the construction of socialism.In this thesis, the formation and development of Li’s economic thought were reviewed. The contents and characteristics of the thought were studied and its theoretical contributions as well as contemporary value were evaluated. Derived from the Chinese traditional economic thought, Li’s economic thought was affected by both the thought of Marxist-Leninist and some Chinese communists like Mao Zedong. His economic thought was also inseparable to his personal long-term revolutionary practice and thinking. Li had explored and accumulated a lot of valuable experience through practice during his long-term leading and management of financial and economic construction. Holding the view of doing everything based on the reality, he creatively implemented the financial and economic routes, guidelines and policies of the government. He did a lot of fruitful work to establish the basic socialist economic system as well as a relatively complete and independent industrial system and national economic system. Li has paid painstaking efforts to explore the laws of socialist economic construction. Herein, we systematically elaborated Li’s economic measures, thought, and achievements. We can see that Li has left us a lot of valuable work experience and theoretical summary in different stages of China’s socialist revolution and construction. There formed a series of economic thought with Li’s personal characteristics in finance, banking, commerce and foreign trade, like realistic and pragmatic economic thought, overall economic thought concerning “industrial, agricultural and commercial balance”, humanistic economic thought, balanced development and harmonious economic thought, the courage of reform and innovation, etc.. Coming from the social revolution and practice of China, Li’s economic thought is applicable to the China’s domestic features. It played an importance role in promoting the economic development at that time, and is still valuable in today’s era with reform and opening-up background.In short, Li Xiannian has made great contributions to the Chinese new democratic revolution and socialist construction. He is not only a well known politician, military strategist and social activist, but also a distinguished economist. He has made a historic contribution to promote the development of China’s economic construction and reform and opening up. His various economic thought and multifaceted practical experience is valuable asset left for us. Systematic summary and elaboration of these thought and experience is significant to the guidance of today’s reform, opening-up and economic construction.
