As the largest city gas company, the shortage of the gas source has been the most serious bottlenecks for the development of Y Company. Moreover, the profits of coal business have been sharply decreased because of the oversupply of coal in the first half year. This unprecedented blow in the coal business makes the future of this business unit as a serious challenge for the managers of Y Company.Based on integrated strategic management theory, this thesis studies future business development strategy for Y Company using SWOT analysis. Firstly, we discuss the opportunities and threats faced by the company under the current situation of gas industry both in China and abroad. Secondly, we point out the advantages and disadvantages of this company by analysis the current business operations, the organizational structure and personnel situations. Then we propose an integrated development strategy to form a business line for the company by applying the SWOT analysis. The strategy indicates that the company could manufacture substituted nature gas (SNG) from coal material, and sell the liquefied natural gas (LNG) over the country. Therefore, both the lack of gas source and the overstocking of coal material can be alleviated.This thesis proposes a case of the gas industrial chain extension and the integrated business development strategy which offers an effective promotion in the vertically integration of gas companies.
