In recent years there are different degree of progress and development in the world of themain countries of small and medium-sized enterprises, and small and medium-sized enterprises inone country economic development in the position is becoming more and more important. In theprocess of China’s economic development, small and medium-sized enterprise has always playedan irreplaceable role. Small and medium-sized enterprises not only solved the problem of urbanand rural resident employment but also state-sponsored tax for the government and drive thewhole country export. However, after seeing the development of China small and medium-sizedenterprises make a spurt of progress, compared to the developed countries such as Japan andAmerican’s, we clearly aware that China SMES have many disadvantages, such as poorfoundation, less funds, poor personnel quality, backward innovation of science and technology andso on. At the same time, China small and medium-sized enterprises have been in a weak positionand international competition in the international export market. Therefore how to improve theexport competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises in China is an urgent problem.Based on the theme of "export competitiveness of China-Japan in small and medium-sizedenterprises comparison", this thesis uses a quantitative, qualitative, empirical analysis ofcomparative ways to study the relevant theoretical foundation, the concept, situation andcharacteristic of China-Japan small and medium-sized enterprises as well as the key industriesexport competitiveness and the reasons for the difference, in order to explore the present ourcountry small and medium-sized enterprise facing export related issues, as well as to solve aboveproblems put forward the problem solving strategy.The mainly contents of this paper conclude: first it introduces the situation and characteristicsof export competitiveness in China and Japan small and medium-sized enterprises, whichcompares the position and function of the small and medium-sized enterprises in their respectivecountries’ economic trade, this paper expounds China and Japan’s export of small andmedium-sized enterprises in recent years. Through the comparison we find out China SMES isless perfect than Japan’s, our country’s export mostly rely on himself but small and medium-sizedenterprises to export development in Japan mostly rely on big business and the help of thegovernment. Now the two countries’ small and medium-sized enterprises export all fell due to theeconomic crisis affect. Then, the main part of the essay is between China and Japan’s small and medium enterprise mainly export selection industry for empirical comparative analysis, throughthe comparison shows that because the two countries’ SMES in technology, industrial structure,financing policy’s background and development is different, so the export competitiveness inrelated industries the advantages and disadvantages are in different ways. Finally, according to theinfluence reason of the export competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises, we raisecountermeasures to improve China small and medium-sized enterprises’ export competitiveness infactors of production, related industries, industrial policy and the competitive environment andgovernmentIn a word, based on the international trade theory as a foundation this thesis mainly takes themethods of comparison for writing technique, quantitative and qualitative analysis as well as thecombination of the empirical and normative analysis. It generally follows the "questions-theoryanalysis-empirical analysis-problems and suggestions" train of thought, carefully compares andsummarizes our country and Japan’s export competitiveness of small and medium-sizedenterprises in order to improve the export competitiveness of SMES in China.
