Feasibility Study On The Increasing Shipping Capacity For Dalian Port Group

Dalian Port Group, which takes a core role in forging Dalian into shipping center in Northeast Asia and international logistics center, was proposed to transfer the port mostly providing loading and unloading business to the port providing integrated logistics services, establish the value-added logistics network and chain that is efficient, comprehensive and low-cost. Also, the group was suggested to develop a comprehensive logistics service system, where the port logistics and regional logistics were integrated. In the development of establishing the fourth generation port and the comprehensive logistics service system, the shipping industry takes the most important part in connecting companies with customers. What’s more, the shipping industry can play a leading role in improving the service system, adding logistics resource and developing the inland market. Therefore, the development of the shipping industry is important to the Dalian Port Group itself and the construction of Dalian shipping center in North Asia and international logistics center.According to the economic structure in northeast of China and the characteristics and advantages of Dalian port, the shipping development strategy was researched based on domestic shipping market. Furthermore, the shipping industry was analyzed according to the development strategy planning of Dalian Port Group. The eternal economic environment, the shipping development, as well as the domestic market of dry bulk, oil, container and automobile which are mainly supplied by Dalian Port Group were analyzed in depth. And after the tech-economic argumentation on ship types and financial analysis, we come up with several suggestions of the development of shipping industry in the future years to Dalian Port Group.The development goals and positioning of Dalian port shipping industry can be determined based on the comprehensive analysis of the important factors inside and outside the Dalian Port Group and the better development prospect of the shipping industry. And then effective measures should be taken to promote the development of shipping industry according to the characteristics of Dalian port, regional economy and port layout, which has great contribution the logistics chain extend of the shipping industry and the construction of Dalian international shipping center in Northeast Asia and the international logistics center.
