Tourism is the fastest growing “sunrise industry” in the world, and the traditionaltourist destinations have become leaders in the tourism industry. However, with thespringing up of new tourist destinations, traditional tourist destinations have to face theirchallenges. Therefore, they have to make innovations if they want to have lasting vitality.Taking Mount Tai, the Shandong traditional tourist destination as a case, this articleanalyzed the status of Mount Tai tourism economic development, and proposed theconstraints which are restricting the promotion of the competitiveness of Mount Tai.Choosing the competitiveness of Touring Infrastructure, Tourism Environment, TouringServices, Touring Price and Touring Soft Environment as impact factors, this article tookfactor analysis, correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analyzing method,analyzed the five factors on the competitiveness of Mount Tai, and then proposed specificways to enhance the competitiveness of Mount Tai: Innovative development of tourismproducts, digging connotation of cultural products, developing the potential tourismresources, enhancing the touring image of Mount Tai, protecting the natural and cultureresources, improving the quality of tourism services, increasing the construction of tourisminfrastructure, guiding product innovation by the concept of sustainable development, etc.This article studied the specific methods and measures with a combination of theoreticalanalysis and empirical research.
