An Empirical Study On Influential Factors Of Offshore Software Out-Sourcing Project Performance

At present, Software outsourcing has achieved more than one third of the output value of the global software nowadays. Because of the advantage of low-cost human resources, well-developed internet infrastructure and a good policy environment, China gradually makes remarkable achievements, but along with the global technology and industrial restructuring continue to deepen, the pressure of further development and expansion of China’s software outsourcing has become increasingly prominent. In this environment, identifying the key factors affecting offshore software project is a top priority for the domestic software enterprises.Domestic enterprises will be affected by not only the objective factors, such as language, culture, geographical differences, but also other factors, such as outsourcing environment, enterprise risk, relationship mechanism and cultural value. Literature which has a comprehensive study of influential factors of offshore software outsourcing of academia mainly based on theoretical explanations or case studies, empirical research often choose one of the factors to analyze. Therefore, identifying the influential factors of offshore software outsourcing more comprehensive and analyzing its’relationship mechanism with project performance have theoretical and practical significance. A questionnaire is designed based on systematically literature review combing field interviews. Then a questionnaire survey of parts of the domestic enterprises which involves in offshore software outsourcing is conducted. One hundred valid questionnaires are collected through the issuance of questionnaires. Statistical analysis and hypothesis testing are done in the use of SPSS17.0and LISREL8.70based on the survey data and some conclusions are reached.First conclusion is that enterprise risk has a significant negative impact on offshore software project performance.The second conclusion is that outsourcing environment has a significant positive impact on offshore software project performance.The third conclusion is that relationship mechanism has a significant positive impact on offshore software project performance.The forth conclusion is that the cultural value don’t affect offshore software project performance significantly.At the same time, according to the empirical results, the proposals are presented and the directions of the future research are pointed out.
