Study On The Cooperation Of Intra-Regional Trade In Northeast Asia

With the rapid development of the global economy, economic integration has become a trend. Asian financial crisis in1997woke the East Asian countries up and made them begin to cooperate. The global financial crisis, which began in2008, made the Northeast Asian countries deeply believe that only by enhancing cooperation can they raise the ability to resistance risk and the big crisis. The successful development of the NAFTA and the EU in the development of regional integration has played a positive role of the Northeast Asian countries to strengthen economic and trade cooperation. Beside, Northeast Asian is an important gator that China integrates into the world economy. Therefore, discussing the Cooperation of Intra-Regional Trade in Northeast Asia has significance both in theory and practice.This thesis includes six chapters. The first Chapter introduces the background of choosing the topic, that promoting the cooperation of economic and trade in Northeast Asia not only keep up with the trend of the times, but also bring huge benefits for the countries; then after reading a lot of Literature, the author summarized and classified the present study by home and abroad, the research method and the structure of paper; lastly, it is the innovation and insufficient.The second Chapter discusses the related theories of Northeast Asian regional cooperation, including the international trade division theory and the regional Economic Integration theory. Determined by the level of economic development of countries, the present regional labor division systems of Northeast Asia include vertical division system as well as horizontal division system. Besides, influenced by economic, political, historical and social factors, there are still many obstacles in Northeast Asian regional economic cooperation. There is neither an economic cooperation organization nor a system arrangement.Chapter three comments the status of trade cooperation in Northeast Asia. There’re three parts. The first part describes the background and the course of development of intra-regional trade cooperation. The second part is the status and characteristics of intra-regional trade cooperation. Affected by the inevitable political problems, historical issues, and the demand of economic development, the feature is trade cooperation prior to the political. The last one is the prospect of the cooperation of Intra-Regional Trade, that the economic and trade cooperation is still the most important aspect, sub-regional cooperation will be deepen, and Russia will actively join in the group of China, South Korea and Japan.Chapter four analyses the major bilateral trade within the Northeast Asia, including China-Japan, China-Korea, China-Russia, and Japan-Korea. After analyzing the data of trade volume from the year1992to2010, we found that the overall trend of trade is rising, the years affected by the special events were not included. We also analysis the data of trade structure from year2006to2011, and the conclusion is the trade among China, Japan and South Korea are competitive, while the trade between China and Russia is complementary. With the expansion of scale of trade, the trade deficit of China and Japan, China and South Korea, are increased, while the trade deficit from China to Russia is on contrary.Chapter five introduces the factors which influence the cooperation of intra-regional trade. There are four parts. The first part is the factors causing the trade structure in Northeast Asia. The second introduces why the scale of the trade in Northeast Asia expanded so rapidly. The third is the restrict factors of the trade cooperation in Northeast Asia. At last it is the impact of China’s participation in regional cooperation in Northeast Asia.In the end, the thesis make a strategic thinking of the role China plays in Northeast Asian regional trade cooperation, two parts are included. The first one is SWOT analysis of Chinese participation on Trade Cooperation in Northeast Asia. The second one is the suggestions. Firstly, as a big political and economic country, China should make sure the role and play the leading role. Secondly, under the framework of tripartite cooperation documents, China should actively promote the cooperation of China, Japan and South Korea. Thirdly, sub-regional economic and trade cooperation should be paid much attention to promote the development of the overall region. Fourthly, China should take some measures to revitalize the old industrial base in northeast, basing on that we can try to explore an effective way to intra-regional trade cooperation. Fifthly, we should also pay enough attention to protect our market as well as making full use of it.
