In recent ten years, the BRICS countries, Brazil, Russia, India, South Africa and China as representatives of the emerging economies, have developed quickly in foreign direct investment(FDI) all over the world, and play a more and more important role. Especially for China’s FDI, along with the continuous deepening of economic globalization, sustained increase of foreign exchange reserves and the support of government policy, China’s enterprises continue to expand the scale of FDI, and expand the breadth and depth of foreign direct investment. By means of comparative qualitative and quantitative analysis of the BRICS FDI, this article explores the own characteristics of BRICS FDI; the areas and industry distribution of BRICS FDI; and how China’s FDI increases and other issues. This paper hopes that the research provides some useful help.This paper systematically summarizes the domestic and abroad traditional theories of FDI and the rise of the new foreign investment theories of developing countries and the correlation analysis and linear regression theory, on the basis of this, compares and analyzes the BRICS countries’natural conditions, the present situation and the characteristics of BRICS FDI, the regional and industrial distribution of BRICS FDI, the major factors of BRICS FDI, on the basis of the analysis, puts forward the point and the conclusions of this paper. Finally, in view of the advantages and disadvantages of BRICS FDI, this paper puts forward some policy proposals on how China’s government enhances its FDI.This paper seeks to have its own characteristics in the following three aspects:(1) It has dabbled in quantitative analysis of the BRICS FDI;(2) This paper collects a lot of data, then analyses the present situation and the characteristics of BRICS FDI, the regional and industrial distribution of BRICS FDI, the major factors of BRICS FDI, and draws the unique advantages and disadvantages of BRICS FDI, then gives the opinions on China’s government’s policies in FDI.(3) This paper uses standard research methods, such as:a comparative study, empirical study, hopes to compensate to some extent the empty of the research of BRICS FDI. But because of the constraints on data availability, the sample selection, the number of parameters setting, this paper needs to be further improved in the future research.
