City commercial banks are the special group of China’s banking andcommercial system. It first occurred only ten years ago, but develops at anamazing speed, and plays a more and more important role in China’sbanking system. With the deepening of the reform of the commercialsystem and the full opening of the banking sector, banks in China arefacing an increasingly fierce competition. It is especially challenging forcity commercial banks to survive among the more powerful state-ownedcommercial banks, joint-stock commercial banks and foreign banks. It is ofgreat practical significance and research value to find a way to speed up thereform process of city commercial bank and to raise its overallcompetitiveness.Against this background, the thesis studies the competitiveness of citycommercial banks, and the whole thesis is divided into six parts: Part Ⅰ: Introduction. This part summarizes the research backgroundand significance of the topic, and to clarify the research content and theframe, point out the research method and innovation.Part Ⅱ: Literature Review. Overview of the competitiveness ofenterprises on the basis of research on the competitiveness of the domesticand foreign commercial banks, synthesis and evaluation, and highlights thecompetitiveness of city commercial literature, indicate the competitivenessof city commercial characteristics and influencing factors, and thenResearch by city commercial competitiveness evaluation system.Part Ⅲ: Theoretical basis. This chapter introduces the theory ofcompetitiveness of enterprises, including the school of market structure,resources, school, the ability of school, as well as kinetic send thesetheories to explain the competitive factors or origin. Then introduce newtheory-financial ecological theory, this theory supported by this study.Part Ⅳ: The architecture of the city commercial bank competitivenessevaluation index system. According to the introduction of the third part ofthe theory, the paper is divided into the competitiveness of city commercial real competitive, three parts, each part of the potential competitiveness andenvironmental competitiveness (financial ecological) indicators but also bya number of elements. Reality competitiveness is the reality of theperformance of the bank competitiveness that usually financial evaluation,including profitability, asset quality, capital adequacy and liquidity. Thepotentially competitive reflect bank internal factors of competitiveness, andfocus on three aspects of corporate governance, financial innovation andtechnology level, human resources analysis. Environmentalcompetitiveness that affect the banks competitive external financialecological environment, mainly including the four parts of the economicstrength, government intervention, the rule of law, environment and creditbasis.Part V: The empirical test of the city commercial banks competitiveevaluation of Zhejiang. Theoretical analysis of the competitiveness of thethird part of the city commercial framework, just from realitycompetitiveness, potential competitiveness and environmentalcompetitiveness three parts and11city commercial banks of Zhejiang and using five years report data (some city commercial defect data of therelevant year key factor) to analysis through factor analysis and analytichierarchy process, reference standards and weights calculated the citycommercial banks competitiveness scores of Zhejiang, come to affect thecity commercial competitiveness and factors influencing approach anddegree. And the case of the Bank of Ningbo analyzes competition situation.Part Ⅵ: The proposed policy recommendations to enhance thecompetitiveness of the city commercial bank, the limitations of the studyand future prospects.
